Reports are surfacing that Donald Trump is actually considering Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle for the position of White House press secretary.
Guilfoyle appears regularly on Fox News Channel and co-hosts the network’s primetime show “The Five.”
The New York Times reported, this Friday, Guilfoyle has caught President Trump’s attention and is seen as a potential replacement for Sean Spicer, the current press secretary.
According to the Times’ report, “while Mr. Trump has raised the Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle to allies as a possible press secretary, he has spent several hours with Mr. Spicer this week, praising his television ‘ratings’ during the briefings.”
This is certainly not the first time that Guilfoyle’s name has been mentioned as a possible press secretary.
In December, prior to Spicer’s appointment for the position, reports surfaced that Guilfoyle was one of the top candidates for the job and that she and Spicer, a former spokesperson for the Republican National Committee, might split the responsibilities.
Media sources covered the news as, “Fox News’ Kimberly Guilfoyle has been making a push for the White House press secretary role. Per the report, Republican National Committee spokesperson Sean Spicer is still seen as the favorite for the position. But the team is looking at offering Guilfoyle an ‘ancillary role,’ and that there is consideration of perhaps having Spicer and the Fox host split the position.”
The reports on Guilfoyle emerged as Trump mentioned that he was looking to end regular White House press briefings entirely.
President Trump wrote on Twitter, “s a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with perfect accuracy!”
He then added, “Maybe the best thing to do would be to cancel all future ‘press briefings’ and hand out written responses for the sake of accuracy???”
Although, Guilfoyle did not respond to the news, but she was noted wearing shoes sold by President Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, on Friday night airing of her show.
