Following the events of the Charlottesville Disaster, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) rose to prominence for “officially” declaring any group with a difference of opinion from Antifa a “hate group.” The SPLC recently labeled a mainline Christian ministry as a “hate group,” for the same reason.
John Rabe, a spokesman for the Christian group, Kennedy Ministries, explained that is “ridiculous” for the SPLC to compare D. James Kennedy Ministries with KKK and neo-Nazis.
“It’s ridiculous for the SPLC to falsely tag evangelical Christian ministries as ‘hate groups’ simply for upholding the 2,000-year-old Christian consensus on marriage and sexuality.”
“It’s nothing more than an attempt to bulldoze over those who disagree with them, and it has a chilling effect on the free exercise of religion in a nation built on that,” he continued.
Furthermore, “we desire all people, with no exceptions, to receive the love of Christ and his forgiveness and healing. We unequivocally condemn violence, and we hate no one,” he added.
Kennedy Ministries has filed a lawsuit against the SPLC in the U.S. District Court in Montgomery, Ala. In a statement issued by the Kennedy Ministries after filing the lawsuit, they argued, “These false and illegal characterizations have a chilling effect on the free exercise of religion and on religious free speech for all people of faith. After having given the SPLC an opportunity to retract, we have undertaken this legal action, seeking a trial by a jury of our peers, to preserve our own rights under the law and to defend the religious free speech rights of all Americans.”
The future of Christian persecution in our nation very well may looks exactly like this: coordinated, and ruthless suppression by the establishment, and vile slander against any and all believers who dare to live out their faith in public. Christians should not expect these injustices to be recognized and fixed by a corrupt and godless court – but our hope should be resting elsewhere, anyway.
Maajid Nawaz, a former Muslim living in Britain, and a vocal anti-Sharia and anti-radical activist is also looking to sue the SPLC for adding him to their list of hateful, “anti-Muslim extremists.” During a recent appearance on Bill Maher’s show, Maajid openly worried for life and the safety of his family as a result of the SPLC’s actions. “We know what happens when you list heretics [from Islam]. They end up dead.”
Scott Walter, President of Capital Research Center, a conservative think tank that monitors nonprofits, fervently disagrees with what he calls the SPLC’s incorrect usage of the term “hate group.” In a recent interview, Walter noted that the SPLC, “deserve praise because they used the law to hurt the Klan — a lot.” However, driven by greed and vainglory, the SPLC is now corrupt to the core. He notes, “But as often happens in the charity world, it concocts new ways to keep donations flowing.”
“When you talk about hate groups, you’re talking about a group that is a threat because of its violent tendencies and racism. If you go up to somebody on the street and ask ‘What is a hate group?’ that is what they would take it to mean.”
“It’s an outrageous lie that some mainstream Christian group is a threat in terms of violence and racism,” Walter concluded.
In practice, the Alt-Left SPLC preys on and abuses the common man’s strong politically correct impulse to instantly and unthinkingly condemn anything the mainstream calls a “hate group.” In short, the SPLC is a propaganda organization, meant to silence normal Americans, and to keep anyone on the right from organizing, for fear of being branded a, “hate group” – even if you are only organizing with your church to evangelize, and help the poor.
