Google—which features a “doodle” on their homepage for a variety of holidays and anniversaries—skipped Easter.
For the 18th year in a row, Google did not put an Easter-themed “doodle” on their popular search bar, causing the anger of Christians on social media.
However, Google did manage to stick in a mention of April Fool’s Day, which fell on the same day as Easter, by putting a “Where’s Waldo?”-themed game on their Google Maps platform.
Fox News contacted Google to get to the bottom of the story, and Google replied, ““We don’t have Doodles for religious holidays, in line with our current Doodle guidelines. Doodles may appear for some non-religious celebrations that have grown out of religious holidays, such as Valentine’s Day, Holi’s Festival of Colors, Tu B’Av and the December holiday period, but we don’t include religious imagery or symbolism as part of these.”
However, Google has in the past celebrated St. Patrick’s Day and Christmas, which are both Christian holidays.
