Tear down Washington, Jefferson statues too!

Statues of Robert E. Lee and other Confederate leaders have been torn down in recent days… but one CNN pundit doesn’t think they’ve gone far enough.

CNN’s Angela Rye wants statues of former Presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson to come down as well.

“American history is not all glorious,” Rye said. “George Washington was a slave owner. We need to call slave owners out for what they are. Whether we think they were protecting American freedom or not, he wasn’t protecting my freedoms.”

“To me, I don’t care if it’s a George Washington statue or Thomas Jefferson, they all need to come down,” Rye added.

Rye’s controversial comments come as the Black Lives Matter movement rapidly gains support. According to a recent poll, 57% of Americans have a favorable view of the protest movement.

However, polls also show that, while the movement overall has broad support, leftist activists are pushing a radical agenda that is deeply unpopular with the American people.

The latest mantra–“Defund the Police”–is, for example, supported by just 16% of Americans.

No polls have yet been conducted on Rye’s views of the first and third President of the United States–but one can imagine it doesn’t have the support of anything remotely close to a majority.
