During a quick talk with the press on the White House lawn, Donald Trump said that up to 15,000 troops could be deployed to the southern border to stop the massive migrant caravan less than 1,000 miles away.
Monday, the White House announced that it would be sending 5,200 troops to help border patrol agents keep the migrants out of America. Five days later, Trump indicates that number could almost triple.
See the video below of Trump discussing the possible deployment of additional troops.
The caravan, despite it’s size is moving rather quickly thanks to Mexicans feeding and trucking the group. Fox News did a live shot from a site where trucks pick up member of the caravan and drive them to Mexico City to regroup.
If you watch the video above, the live shot catches very few families and children. Most of the migrants in the video are young adult males.
The caravan is a blessing and a curse for Donald Trump. The added threat to the American border will keep Republicans engaged during the midterm election and that is a good thing for Trump. Eventually, Trump is going to have to find a peaceful solution to the encroaching caravan and the escalation of troops could spell disaster.
The caravan crisis could define his first term and make or break his chances for the 2020 election. Trump has a real opportunity at leadership. Will he seize it? Let us know in the comments below.
