During his 2024 campaign, President Donald Trump correctly assailed elite universities like Harvard as controlled by “Marxist maniacs and lunatics.” He received a popular mandate to take them down. They deserve it.
The bill of indictment against Harvard is long. It is teaching students to hate America, to become modern-day Benedict Arnolds. It is teaching students to love Hamas and terrorists.
It is instructing students to provide them with material assistance — a federal crime. It is promoting antisemitism, hatred of Israel, and the canard of a genocide in Gaza.
The president of Harvard, Alan Garber, has repeatedly acknowledged an epidemic of antisemitism at the university: “It is present on our campus. I have experienced antisemitism directly, even while serving as president, and I know how damaging it can be to a student who has come to learn and make friends at a college or university.”
Let’s be clear. The Israel Defense Forces scrupulously avoid killing or harming innocent civilians, especially infants. They give ample warning in advance of any attack. The IDF targets only Hamas or its supporters. The media is inflating the death count in Gaza manifold to cast aspersion on Israel. Unprecedented humanitarian aid is entering. No other country in history has permitted relief to assist the enemy in wartime. Harvard is guilty of promoting an opposite and false narrative of Palestinian starvation and misery.
It prays for the destruction of the United States as retribution for alleged sinning against Blacks, women, Hispanics, LGBTQ, Native Americans, Asian Americans, the environment and economic equality.
Harvard celebrates communism over free-market capitalism. Survey its libraries. You will find Karl Marx’s “Das Kapital” and “The Communist Manifesto,” Vladimir Lenin’s “Essential Works” and Mao Zedong’s “Little Red Book.” The Paris Commune is taught as utopia.
Stroll on the Harvard campus. You look in vain for the Stars and Stripes. Instead, you see Islamic flags featuring a green field, a white crescent moon and a star. You listen in vain for the national anthem, the “Battle Hymn of the Republic” or “Yankee Doodle.” Instead, you hear the antisemitic chant “From the river to the sea” calling for the destruction of Israel.
Harvard is Un-American. It should be promoting student and faculty attendance at the June 14 military parade in Washington, D.C., honoring those who gave or risked that last full measure of devotion to guarantee that the government of the people, by the people, for the people does not perish from the earth. Instead, it is fighting to retain the 27% of the student body composed of international students characteristically serving as spies for countries like China or India. Harvard’s tax-exempt status should be revoked for serving foreign nations more than America itself.
The United States was founded as a merit-based society. Everyone was born with the same unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In the eyes of the Constitution, there was only one race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. It was American.
Harvard continues to mock merit as the touchstone of success at the university. Despite its devastating loss at the U.S. Supreme Court in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, the university continues to promote DEI, which judges by skin color, religion, ethnicity, LGBTQ status and progressive or socialist dogmas. This is not the aristocracy of merit saluted by Thomas Jefferson when he founded the University of Virginia.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said it best: “The president is more interested in giving that taxpayer money (going to Harvard) to trade schools and programs and state schools where they are promoting American values but, most importantly, educating the next generation based on skills that we need in our economy and our society. …
Apprenticeships, electricians, plumbers, we need more of those in our country, and less LGBTQ graduate majors from Harvard University.”
