Celebrities just aren’t like us.
Madonna is coming under fire for an incredibly bizarre response to the Minneapolis riots.
On Thursday night, Madonna shared a two-minute video of her son, David Banda Mwale Ciccone-Ritchie, on both her Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Ciccone-Ritchie, who is black and was adopted by Madonna and her then-husband Guy Ritchie from a Malawi orphanage in 2006, is seen dancing to the Michael Jackson hit, “They Don’t Care About Us.”
The video on its own isn’t strange–but what is strange is that Madonna and her son, apparently, intended it as a “tribute” to George Floyd, the black man who was killed by police in Minneapolis.
In the caption, Madonna wrote, “Brutal murder travels around the world. My son David dances to honor and pay tribute to George and His Family and all Acts of Racism and Discrimination that happen on a daily basis in America. #davidbanda #JusticeforGeorgeFloyd #MichaelJackson.”
