Florida has announced a winner in the vote recount between Senator Bill Nelson and Republican candidate Rick Scott.
For the first time in over 100 years, the Republicans will have both Senate seats in the state of Florida.
Sunday, Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) called to concede to Senator-elect Rick Scott. Responding to the concession, Scott released a statement saying “I just spoke with Senator Bill Nelson, who graciously conceded, and I thanked him for his years of public service.”
Nelson released his own statement about losing the election and hoped for a “safe and sane future.” The comment seems to be a shot at president Trump. Nelson went on to say, “”We have to move beyond a politics that aims not just to defeat but to destroy; where truth is treated as disposable, where falsehoods abound, and the free press is assaulted as the ‘enemy of the people.”

Trump showed his support of Rick Scott on Twitter.
From day one Rick Scott never wavered. He was a great Governor and will be even a greater Senator in representing the People of Florida. Congratulations to Rick on having waged such a courageous and successful campaign!

Nelson wasn’t the only Florida Democrat forced to concede. In the battle for governor, Democrat Andrew Gillum conceded to Republican rival and new Florida governor Don Santis.
Trump and Republicans were able to hold onto Florida, the third largest and all important state moving towards 2020.
