Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro has challenged self-declared socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to a debate.
Shapiro reached out to the Democratic congressional candidate via Twitter, posting a video saying:
“Miss Ocasio-Cortez, I’m really excited that you’ve been elevated to that position and I would love to have a real conversation with you about the issues,” Shapiro said.
“You’ve noted that you think Republicans are afraid to debate you or talk to you or discuss the issues with you. Not only am I eager to discuss the issues with you, I’m willing to offer $10,000 to your campaign today for you to come on our Sunday special,” he added. “We can have an hour long conversation about all the topics under the sun, really probe your belief system.”
He added that, if she wanted, he would put the $10,000 to charity, rather than to her campaign.
“However you want to do it, I’m more than willing to talk to you. I’d love to have this conversation,” Shapiro continued. “So let’s make this happen! Let’s make America a more civil and interesting place. Let’s do this thing.”
The far-left Ocasio-Cortez, who was declared by the head of the Democratic National Committee to be “the future of the party,” shot to fame when she unexpectedly defeated Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY) in a June primary.
Since then, Ocasio-Cortez has been praised for her socialist beliefs–even as she’s made a number of slip-ups, incorrect statements, and outright lies about her worldview.
