Greg Abbot of Texas is a two-term Republican governor and is head-to-head in polls with famed Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey.
The Dallas Morning News and the University of Texas at Tyler released a new poll showing that the current governor is sitting in the lead with a 39%.
Shockingly, McConaughey got 38% in the same poll.
The Dazed and Confused actor hasn’t committed for running for governor, but is staying in the conversation.
He had a video go viral over the 4th of July week on Instagram where he says that America is just going through “puberty”.
McConaughey hasn’t even picked his political party yet.
Despite not having a party behind him, he is still only a point behind the seated governor.
The race is still over a year away, but it looks like this drama is just getting started.
