After Kanye West came out as a Trump supporter over the weekend, he received a massive backlash from the left.
But at least one A-list rapper is coming to his defense.
In a series of tweets, Chance the Rapper, struck back, writing: “Black people don’t have to be democrats.”
In a follow-up tweet, he added, “Next President gon be independent.”
Chance the Rapper also hit back against people on the far-left who were criticizing West’s mental health, writing, “Talked to him two days ago. He’s in a great space and not affected by folk tryna question his mental or physical health. Same Ye from the VMAs, same Ye from the telethon.”
West spurred controversy when, earlier this week, he tweeted praise of black conservative pundit Candace Owens, and then proclaimed his “love” for President Donald Trump earlier this week on a radio show. West had previously also claimed to be a Trump supporter, and met with Trump shortly before the 2016 election at Trump Tower.
