Big Cabinet Shakeup Coming To White House?

Kellyanne Conway
Are there no decent human beings in Washington, DC, free of potential scandal? Stupid question, I know!!

In the midst of another rumored shakeup on Sunday, top Administration officials took to the airwaves to respond. After the resignation of David Sorensen and Rob Porter over domestic abuse allegations, Chief of Staff, Gen. John Kelly’s job seems to hang in the balance.

Reports indicate that President Trump is annoyed with the actions of White House Chief of Staff for mishandling the fallout from abuse allegations against Staff Secretary Rob Porter. In the past few days, Trump has had second thoughts on the appointment of John Kelly as White House Chief of Staff. He even called the previous Chief of Staff, Reince Priebus, last week, to discuss Kelly’s job performance. John Kelly has only been Chief of staff for more than six months.

In an interview to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, White House Counselor, Kellyanne Conway, stated that President Trump has full confidence in John Kelly as White House Chief of Staff.

“I spoke with the president last night about this very issue and he wanted me to re-emphasize to everyone, including this morning, that he has full confidence in his current chief of staff, Gen. John Kelly, and that he is not actively searching for replacements,” said Kellyanne Conway on “This Week.”

Additionally, Trump’s Legislative Director, Marc Short appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press Show with Chuck Todd. He reaffirmed that John Kelly has not offered his resignation.

He noted, “He will step aside anytime the president doesn’t want him to be there. But John Kelly has not offered his resignation. John Kelly is doing an outstanding job.”

Even Trump’s Budget Director, Mick Mulvaney, chimed in, also dismissed talk of replacing Kelly as “much ado about nothing. There’s a lot of good things that have been happening since the chief is there,” he told Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday.”

On February 10, President Trump tweeted that lives are being destroyed and shattered by mere allegations. “Peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation. Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused – life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?”
