Did Donald Trump Get Megyn Kelly Fired?

Did Donald Trump get Fox News host, Megyn Kelly, fired–over a question she asked during the debate?

Kelly and Trump have been in a feud following a question she asked him during last week’s Fox News debate–which culminated in a phone call between Donald Trump and Fox News boss Roger Ailes, who vowed to treat Trump “fair” moving forward.

Ailes also reiterated his support, at the time, for Kelly–but an announcement she made on Thursday could change that.

Kelly announced, “I’ll be taking the next week and a half spending some time with my husband and kids, trying to relax.”

Twitter immediately lit up–with many users suggesting that Kelly’s sudden departure is tied to her feud with Trump.

“I’m not naive,” said one Twitter user. “This is almost certainly related to Roger Ailes and Donald Trump.”

While another user commented on the suspiciousness of the timing: “Things that make you go hmm.”

The feud between Trump and Kelly stems from what he considered mean-spirited treatment at the hands of Kelly, who was serving as the debate moderator:

Kelly asked: “You’ve called women you don’t like, ‘fat pigs,’ ‘dogs,’ ‘slobs,’ and ‘disgusting animals… You once told a contestant on ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ it would be a pretty picture to see her on her knees. Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president?”

Trump, who responded by talking about his disdain for political correctness in modern day America, soon launched a public feud with the venerable newswoman. He claimed that she had it in for him from the beginning.

She had “blood pouring out of her eyes,” Trump said. Adding that she also had “blood pouring out of her wherever.”

Though Trump later denied it, many took it to be a crack at Kelly’s menstruation cycle–and, thus, a crack about her gender.

It remains to be seen if Kelly has been actually fired by Fox, if she’s merely been “suspended” for a week, or if–coincidental timing aside–she really is just going on vacation for a week and this has nothing to do with the controversy.

But, at the very least, Kelly seems to be hitting a large pause button on the feud between herself and Trump.
