Did This Bimbo Get Trumped By Trump?

Donald Trump has reignited his feud with Fox News anchor, Megyn Kelly–in a series of escalating messages on Twitter. But now, he’s attracted the ire of Fox News boss, Roger Ailes, as well.

On August 14, Liberty News Now speculated that Kelly, who had been the target of heavy criticism from Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump for her performance during the first Republican debate, had been fired or suspended–when she announced she was going on an unexpected “vacation.”

This past week, Kelly has returned to the anchor chair, and was clearly not fired–though it’s still unclear whether her time off was a vacation or actually a formal suspension, in response to her high-profile feud with Trump.

And already, Trump took to Twitter to show he’s not willing to forgive and forget their long-running feud.

Trump tweeted, “I liked The Kelly File much better without @megynkelly. Perhaps she could take another eleven day unscheduled vacation!”

He then quoted a number of other Twitter followers, following up his previous comment with: “Megyn needs to go back on vacation. What a waste of an hour on Fox.”

And then, “She has come back looking like Nancy Grace.”

And, in one last quoted tweet that attracted the most controversy, “The bimbo back in town. I hope not for long.”

The initial feud, earlier this month, began when Kelly, who was moderating the debate, asked Trump if past comments he had made about women were unbecoming of a potential President of the United States. Trump responded by attacking Kelly’s conduct and credibility.

Back then, the feud seemed to end as quickly as it started, after Trump had a chat with Fox News chief, Roger Ailes, who assured Trump that he would be treated fairly by Fox News. Ailes also stood in defense of Kelly, whom he praised for her commitment to excellent journalism.

Now, it’s clear that Trump still has a grudge to settle with the veteran newscaster. But this time around, it looks like he won’t be receiving the kind words from Ailes that he received last time.

Ailes, following Trump’s “bimbo” comment on Monday, quickly released a statement condemning the businessman and urging him to apologize:

“Donald Trump’s surprise and unprovoked attack on Megyn Kelly during her show last night is as unacceptable as it is disturbing. Megyn Kelly represents the very best of American journalism and all of us at FOX News Channel reject the crude and irresponsible attempts to suggest otherwise. I could not be more proud of Megyn for her professionalism and class in the face of all of Mr. Trump’s verbal assaults. Her questioning of Mr. Trump at the debate was tough but fair, and I fully support her as she continues to ask the probing and challenging questions that all presidential candidates may find difficult to answer. Donald Trump rarely apologizes, although in this case, he should. We have never been deterred by politicians or anyone else attacking us for doing our job, much less allowed ourselves to be bullied by anyone and we’re certainly not going to start now. All of our journalists will continue to report in the fair and balanced way that has made FOX News Channel the number one news network in the industry.”

Trump fired back:

“I totally disagree with the FOX statement. I do not think Megyn Kelly is a quality journalist. I think her questioning of me, despite all of the polls saying I won the debate, was very unfair. Hopefully in the future I will be proven wrong and she will be able to elevate her standards to a level of professionalism that a network such as FOX deserves.”

He added: “More importantly, I am very pleased to see the latest polls from Public Policy Polling showing me at a strong number one with 35% in New Hampshire and the Monmouth University poll showing me, again at number one, with 30% in South Carolina. It was also just announced that I won the prestigious corn kernel poll at the Iowa State Fair by a landslide,” he said. “I will be in Iowa tonight with my speech being live on CNN and other networks. My sole focus in running for the Presidency is to Make America Great Again!”

The Trump-Fox feud lives on.
