One of Hollywood’s biggest producer, Harvey Weinstein, was fired from the company that he founded after allegations of decades of sexual abuse allegations surfaced. The Board of Directors announced, “in light of new information about misconduct, Weinstein has been terminated, “effective immediately”.
The dismissal comes after The New York Times reported Thursday that Weinstein has reached at least eight separate legal settlements with different women over allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct, spanning at least 30 years.
Although rampant sexual harassment, rape, and pedophilia are open secrets among liberal Hollywood elite – in which nearly all are complicit – it’s bizarre why these allegations are just now being leveled against Weinstein. Considering the suite of allegations could just as justifiably be applied to any other Hollywood star-maker, the timing of the New York Time’s expose’ of Weinstein is what is most curious.
Weinstein’s alleged inappropriate behavior with women in the last 30 years was detailed in the bombshell report. In it, actress Ashley Judd described being lured to Weinstein’s hotel room, only to find him wearing a bathrobe and requesting sexual favors.
The report also detailed encounters Weinstein allegedly had with other women working for the Weinstein Company, as well as official settlements from people associated with him, including actress Rose McGowen, who was issued a $100,000 settlement that Weinstein desperately insisted was, “not an admission of guilt.”
As is the traditional method of the Hollywood elite, Weinstein asking for sexual favors in return for the promise to help advance young actress’s careers. Such tactics are rampant in Hollywood, with not even underage children being exempted from the depraved practice.
Unsurprisingly, this story has gotten very little notice on social media, or on nightly news and comedy shows – as Hollywood elite often, even implicitly, act as a cabal to protect each other and hid their actions from the world.
Since 1990, Weinstein has given over $1.4 million to democratic candidates and causes, with Barack Obama being one of the largest beneficiaries. No democratic organization or politician has spoken out to disavow Weinstein, or to return even his most recent 2016 political donations. To the contrary, Michelle Obama, before this story broke, praised Harvey Weinstein as a, “wonderful human being, a good friend and just a powerhouse.”
Weinstein is also a close friend and confidant of both Bill and Hillary Clinton, and was a top fundraiser for her in the 2016 campaign.
Initially, Weinstein had issued an apology stating, “The way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain, and I sincerely apologize for it.” However, he quickly backtracked – confident in the fact that his spin would be fully accepted by his Hollywood peers. He followed up this faux apology by explaining, “I came of age in the 60’s and 70’s, when all the rules about behavior and workplaces were different. That was the culture then.”
