Iran’s currency has lost half of its value against the dollar since March and with more sanctions coming, Iran could become a desperate enemy.
France24 is reporting that the rial, Iran’s currency, hit a record low on Sunday. The currency has been in a free-fall since the spring, and things could get worse for Iran.
Just last week Trump sent an all-caps tweet to the Iranian leader America will not back down and to “be cautious”.
“To Iranian President Rouhani: NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE. WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!”
Tensions have been rising since president Trump decided in May to withdraw from the deal Obama made with Iran back in 2015. That means all the sanctions will come back and no payments for the reduction of its nuclear program.
With the currency dropping, the end of the nuke deal and Trump willing to punish allies that trade with Iran, the Muslim nation could become desperate.
Trump has made it very clear where he stands on Iran and if they do something stupid out of desperation, don’t expect the president to send over a diplomatic team to work things out.
