Bernie Sanders had to be cheated by the DNC in order to not win the Democratic primary in 2016, and the senator really started to make a national name for the Democratic Socialist. Could this be the start of a Sanders dynasty?
Levi Sanders, Bernie’s son decided to run for New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District and would be the second Sanders in politics.
The hopes and dreams of the Democratic Socialist was shot down on Tuesday’s primary as the new politician suffered a significant loss.
Endorsed by his father, Bernie Sanders, Levi started out as the underdog and ended in the same position. Earlier this summer, the VT Senator supported his son’s run. “Levi has spent his life in public service to low-income and working families, and I am very proud of all that he has done. In our family, however, we do not believe in dynastic politics. Levi is running his own campaign in his own way.”
Sanders lost to Chris Pappas, an openly gay member of the New Hampshire Executive Council, and actually finished in 7th place in the primary.
Democratic Socialists have had a good run lately, with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez beating Joe Crowley to win New York’s 14th congressional district. In fact Bernie and Cortez have done interviews together to push the Democratic Socialist agenda.
Just when you think the Bernie momentum might come back for the 2020 elections with a new Democratic Socialist dynasty in place, the people of New Hampshire made it clear that they are ok with having one Sanders in politics.
