In 2016, Michelle Obama famously said: “When they go low, we go high.”
But she’s not going high anymore.
In her new memoir, “Becoming,” Mrs. Obama went nuclear on President Trump.
Mrs. Obama claimed that, when she found out Trump would replace her husband, she was shocked and tried to “block it all out.”
She also accused Trump of using divisive tactics that were “deliberately meant to stir up the wingnuts and kooks,” like his early efforts to get President Obama to release his birth certificate, which were ultimately successful.
Mrs. Obama also revealed that she never took Trump seriously until he actually won the White House. She assumed he was “grandstanding” when he announced his campaign in 2015, and was stunned by how many women could choose a “misogynist” like Trump over an “exceptionally qualified female candidate” like Hillary Clinton.”
She also claimed that Trump’s message for Hillary Clinton during the debate was “I can hurt you and get away with it,” for apparently standing behind her.
Mrs. Obama’s book comes out on Tuesday.
