Martin Luther King, Jr.’s niece, Dr. Alveda King, is standing by President Trump—and hitting back at those calling him “racist.”
Calling the left’s constant attacks on Trump “outrageous,” King said that Trump was certainly not racist.
“Racism is just a word that is being bandied about and thrown… at the president unjustly,” she said, during an interview with Fox News. “President Trump is not a racist.”
King cited specifically work done by Trump to honor her uncle, the famed civil rights hero—including making his birthplace in Georgia a national historic park.
As for Trump’s alleged talk of “s***hole countries,” which were claimed by some to be racially-motivated, King also defended the President—saying that these countries were instead victimized by their own corrupt governments.
“Some of their own leaders have taken advantage of them,” King said.
King took a similar tack during an interview with Breitbart, citing Trump’s commitment to equality for all Americans.
“[Trump] cares about this country. He cares about the plight of everybody who’s been underserved, misserved, mistreated, and he’s equalizing that,” she said. “And he means that and I believe him, I really do.”
King, who is a staunchly pro-life conservative, has long been a supporter and key ally of President Trump.
