Money raised for the victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh has wound up at an Islamic center with terrorist ties.
Leftist activist Linda Sarsour, who co-founded the “Women’s March” but has since been criticized for a number of anti-Semitic comments, raised more than $240,000 for the victims of the October shooting, which left 11 dead.
But just $10,000 of Sarsour’s $240,000 actually made it to the victims. Much of the rest, however, wound up at a controversial Pittsburgh Islamic center, which has ties to international terrorism.
Jordan Schachtel, a journalist with Conservative Review, broke then news on Twitter.
“$10,000 went to Tree of Life synagogue, while $155,000 went to the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh (!),’ he wrote. “People should be demanding their money back from [Sarsour].”
In addition, $83,000, which was raised above the fundraiser’s $150,000 goal, also wound up at the Islamic Center, where it’s being earmarked for vague “Muslim-Jewish partnerships.”
It’s not the first time Sarsour and the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh have raised money for Jewish causes–and then refused to pay. Last year, $100,000 was raised to help repair Jewish cemeteries that had been damaged by vandals. The money was never delivered.
This time around, the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh still claims it plans to send the $155,000 to Tree of Life eventually, but has not yet done so or provided a timeline as to when they’ll receive the money.
The Islamic Center of Pittsburgh has come under criticism in the past for deep ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, a Middle Eastern terror group, and their front groups in the United States.
