Daniel Craig has one more movie to film as James Bond… but his replacement could be transgender.
Actor Dominic West proposed the idea on Sunday, while speaking with a British newspaper to promote his upcoming miniseries of “Les Miserables” on the BBC.
West, who has no connection with casting for any upcoming Bond movies but has been rumored to play the iconic spy in years past, was eventually asked who he thought the next James Bond should be.
“Maybe a transgender Bond would be cool,” West suggested. “There’s a very cool woman who’s the wife of an actor in ‘Colette’ who is a captain in the electrical engineers, the highest-ranking transgender soldier in the army,” West said. “She’s a beautiful blonde girl who could be Bond, yes. That’s actually a brilliant idea. They should have a transgender Bond because there are a lot of transgender people in the army. They’d be ideal because they can do everything.”
West was referring to Hannah Graf, a transgender British soldier who was born a man but now identifies as a woman. Graf is married to one of West’s “Les Miserables” co-stars: Jake Graf, an actor who was born a woman but identifies as a man.
“She’s a beautiful blonde girl who could be Bond, yes,” West added. “That’s actually a brilliant idea. They should have a transgender Bond because there are a lot of transgender people in the army.”
“They’d be ideal because they can do everything,” he concluded.
Hannah Graf, however, took to Twitter to nix ideas of playing the next Bond… but did suggest another transgender person: husband Jake.
“If you really want a transgender Bond, then I can think of no one better than [Jake Graf],” Hannah wrote. “Smooth, devilishly handsome and actually an actor!”
