Two years ago Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49 quarterback, sat during the national anthem to protest for what he called “injustice”. The move sparked controversy and national protests and made Kaepernick and unemployed NFL quarterback.
Now Nike is paying Kaepernick to be the face of a new ad campaign that is causing a similar outcry and has erased $4 billion from Nike’s books. Shares in Nike opened almost 2% down on Tuesday.
The ad is causing some people to boycott the sports apparel corporation.
Colin Kaepernick made a guaranteed $39 million in the NFL. Now he’s pocketing more money in a Nike ad because he knelt on a football field. That’s “sacrificing everything?!” Disrespectful to our military members who’ve truly sacrificed everything. pic.twitter.com/wT7L0XSZX9

Sacrificing everything means different things to different people.
If you want to discuss sacrificing EVERYTHING. Let’s remember what sacrificing EVERYTHING means.

Some people are not taking sides.
As expected, #NikeBoycott is trending. Although I’m not taking any sides, I honestly don’t understand why a business would voluntarily choose to alienate half of its potential customer base.
Be that as it may, that’s the beauty of America: Stand up for what you believe in…

The people that are coming out to support Kaepernick are part of a very diverse group. Former CIA head, John O. Brennan is supporting the embattled quarterback.
Colin Kaepernick drew our collective attention to the problem of continued racial injustice in America. He did so not to disrespect our flag but to give meaning to the words of the preamble of our Constitution—“in order to form a more perfect union.” Well done, Colin, well done. https://t.co/4ALyUxLjM5

The former president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is even supporting Kaepernick.
The #NFL season will start this week, unfortunately once again @Kaepernick7 is not on a NFL roster. Even though he is one of the best Quarterbacks in the league.#ColinKaepernick #NFL

If you want to boycott and burn your Nike shoes, just make sure you take them off first.
