Trump Responds To Horrific Florida School Shooting

President Donald Trump tweeted on Wednesday that no one should “feel unsafe in an American School”, in response to a school shooting in Florida. He sent several tweets on Wednesday in response to the school shooting that left at least 17 injured. The exact nature of injuries is still to be disclosed; however, the incident has left many personalities shaken.

President Donald Trump said in his another tweet that, “My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting,” Trump tweeted. “No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school.”

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, White House press secretary, said in a statement that, “The president has spoken with Gov. [Rick] Scott of Florida and offered federal assistance if needed.” She further added that “Department of Homeland Security Secretary [Kirstjen] Nielsen also spoke with Gov. Scott, as well as state and local officials. She has briefed the president on those conversations. The governor, the secretary and other administration officials will continue to keep the president updated.”

In another Tweet by President Donald Trump, he updates that, “Just spoke to Governor Rick Scott. We are working closely with law enforcement on the terrible Florida school shooting.”

Even first lady Melania Trump expressed her grief over the incident and sent her condolences to the victims of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, on Wednesday. Her tweet was praying for the safety and well-being of everyone affected by the incident. Her tweet said, “My heart is heavy over the school shooting in Florida. Keeping all affected in my thoughts & prayers”.

Authorities have confirmed that the shooter killed at least 17 people during the incident.

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said the shooter, was a former student at the school is currently held in custody for further investigation to find the motive behind the shooting.

“From what I understand there was a time where he did attend this school. I don’t know why he left,” Israel told reporters.

Even news anchors such as Philip Mudd, CNN counterterrorism analyst broke down in tears on Wednesday during a discussion session about Florida school shooting while the show was live on CNN.

“I have 10 nieces and nephews,” Mudd said, his voice breaking. “We’re talking about bump stocks, we’re talking about legislation. A child of God is dead. Cannot we acknowledge in this country that we cannot accept this?”

“I can’t do it, Wolf,” he said to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “I’m sorry, we can’t do it.”
