Summer is almost here. Backyard BBQs withs ribs, steaks and burgers are a staple for many Americans, but this summer might be a little different.
The price of meat is skyrocketing and it doesn’t look like it is stopping.
In a recent survey by Morning consult, they found that one in three were paying more for their groceries now than they were at the start of the year.
Meat was cited as the item that has had the most increase in price.
Supply chain issues, transportation issues and even fuel shortages have helped send the prices going up, but there is more to it.
Meat isn’t the only thing going up right now. Chicken, fruit, toilet paper, milk and seafood are all way up in price since the start of the year. Not to mention the prices of wook and other commodities are going up as well.
One thing that is not going up is how much people are being paid. In some places food has shot up 50%, but wages are staying the same.
If this continues, people are really going to start having a hard time putting food on their plates. We’ll see other industries start to crumble as money shifts from disposable income spending to paying more for food.
Entertainment and restaurants will suffer if this continues.
After a global health crisis, we are heading for another crisis built on the back of inflation.
